Aesthetic benefits of face yoga

Do you look in the mirror and instantly start focussing on the wrinkles, the under eye bags and the sagging skin?

It’s very natural, especially as we age, to start noticing the signs of aging – and where is most visible, but on the face!

Face yoga is a natural holistic way of practicing self-care, and targets the 57 muscles of the face and neck to help prevent the signs of aging, and release stress and tension. Face yoga uses a combination of face exercises, face massage, acupressure, relaxation and wellbeing techniques. It has been scientifically proven to work with long lasting effects, and has a relaxing effect also on calming the mind.

Wellness benefits of face yoga

There are also many wellness benefits to practicing face yoga. The practice also includes releasing tension from the neck and shoulders which are areas we tend to hold stress throughout the day. It releases stress and tension held in the face where people can also

experience pain, such as in the jaw. Anyone who has issues with grinding their teeth at night or clenching their jaw would benefit from face yoga exercises.

The eye exercises help to tone the muscles around the eye and all the way back to the optic nerves, therefore helping the eyes to become stronger – with all the screen time we have these days, the eye exercises are a perfect resbite for staring for long hours in the same spot.

Practicing face yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system which in turn helps to calm the mind.

Regular practice can help to increase confidence and self-esteem, as when we start to feel better about the way we look, we start to outwardly project more confidence and feel better in general.

Continued practice can also help with issues such as sinus problems, stress, anxiety, headaches, insomnia and migraines.

The continued practice of face yoga can help us to become more mindful of our posture, and promote increased confidence as we start to become aware of the positive changes we see. We begin to accept ourselves more fully, wrinkles and all!
